Brian Turley is the Lead Growcer and Gardener for Sheshegwaning First Nation, where he supports community food sovereignty, local growing initiatives, and hands-on education around sustainable food production. In this role, Brian helps strengthen access to fresh, locally grown food while contributing to long-term community wellness and resilience.
Brian brings years of field-based experience from his work as a research assistant for biologists across South America and Asia, as well as in Canada’s forestry sector. His background has given him a strong foundation in ecological observation, plant and wildlife research support, land-based learning, and practical environmental stewardship.
Through his combined experience in gardening, controlled-environment growing, conservation research, and forestry, Brian is committed to helping Sheshegwaning First Nation build stronger local food systems rooted in knowledge, respect for the land, and community care.
