Gary Christian is an accomplished public sector executive with more than 37 years of experience in workforce development, community development, and public service leadership. As Executive Director of the North Superior Workforce Planning Board (NSWPB), he works with employers, educators, governments, and community partners to address labour market challenges and support workforce development across Northwestern Ontario. Prior to joining NSWPB in 2022, Gary served for 34 years with the Ontario Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development as a Community Development Officer in Thunder Bay. He also served for 17 years with the Royal Canadian Navy, demonstrating a longstanding commitment to public service and leadership. Gary currently serves as a Trustee with the Lakehead District School Board, contributing to educational governance and community engagement. He holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA), an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Law, and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Lakehead University. In recognition of his dedication to community service, Gary received the City of Thunder Bay's Citizen of Exceptional Achievement Award in 2021 for his work supporting individuals and families in need. He is also the recipient of the Canadian Armed Forces Service Medal, reflecting his commitment to service, leadership, and community.
