A proud Cree Iskwew (woman) from Cross Lake First Nation in Northern Manitoba, Osawi Atik iskwew, (Golden Caribou Woman), Katelyn Lawson, is a Senior Relationship Manager, Commercial Banking - Indigenous Markets. with RBC she dedicates her professional and personal time to empowering Indigenous economies, communities, and people across Manitoba and Northwestern Ontario.
At RBC, Katelyn leads with purpose as the national Co-Chair of Royal Eagles, an 670 member strong employee resource group supporting Indigenous employees and allies. Throughout her tenure with the Royal Eagles Katelyn has co-lead grassroot campaigns within the organization to build bridges between Indigenous and Non-Indigenous people by bringing engaging content, education, and conferences with a strong focused around Truth and Reconciliation. She is a strong advocate for inclusion and diversity, she enjoys leading initiatives that drive awareness around mental health, Indigenous identities, financial wellness, and more. Her career with RBC began in 2015 as an Indigenous Summer Student Intern while completing a Business Administration diploma majoring in Financial Services at RRC Polytech. Since then, Katelyn has taken on roles with increasing scope and responsibility in client facing roles and in leadership. In her current role, Katelyn delivers financial services to Indigenous governments, businesses, not-for-profits, and related organizations, bringing an integrated approach to every relationship.
Her commitment to building bridges extends beyond her career - volunteerism is at the heart of her work. She passionately participates in supporting Indigenous organizations and causes such as Pow Wow Pitch and continues to inspire, lead and mentor Indigenous students work in the Finance Industry.
Her journey inspires and uplifts, as she forges meaningful connections and champions the growth of Indigenous communities.
