Padraic Taaffe

Community Economic Development Officer, Chapleau Cree First Nation

Having studied classics and philosophy in University, Padraic Taaffe decided to put his knowledge of ancient Greek and Latin to good use and became a chef, working for more than twenty years in restaurants, hotels, and cruise ships in Chicago, New York, Berlin, Nice, and Dublin before realizing that this had nothing to do with ancient Greek.

Switching to Economics and then an MBA, he worked in health care management for six years before settling into a role in Economic Development. It only took 30 years to find the right job, which if nothing else has taught him patience.

In his free time, Padraic reads ancient Greek, practices piano, rides his bike, and does astronomy.
