Sahir Khan

Sahir Khan is Executive Vice President of IFSD Advisors Ltd. and the Institute of Fiscal Studies and Democracy at the University of Ottawa. He advises governments, Indigenous organizations, and private sector clients on public finance, economic policy, infrastructure, economic development, and decision-making under uncertainty.

Prior to joining IFSD, Sahir held senior positions at the Privy Council Office and the Treasury Board Secretariat, concluding his public service career as Assistant Parliamentary Budget Officer. Over more than two decades, he has advised the Prime Minister, Cabinet and Parliament on fiscal planning, expenditure management, tax, budget oversight, and public policy development.

Before entering public service, Sahir was a Managing Director with New York-based RKG Osnos Partners LLC, a restructuring and turnaround advisory firm that later became part of Deloitte LLP. He also worked with Deloitte Consulting and advised organizations in the manufacturing, technology, real estate, and consumer products sectors.

A frequent media commentator and speaker, Sahir is recognized for his expertise in public financial management, government decision-making, public sector and economic performance. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) from Queen's University and an MBA in Finance from Columbia University's Graduate School of Business.
