Leveraging AI Tools for Impact Benefit Agreements, Proposal Writing, and Reporting

This hands-on 3-hour workshop will introduce participants to practical ways artificial intelligence (AI) can support and streamline the work of First Nations economic developers, particularly in creating and managing Impact Benefit Agreements (IBAs), preparing proposals, and compiling reports. Participants will explore accessible AI tools that can help with drafting, summarizing, analyzing data, and improving clarity and persuasiveness in written documents. Real-world examples and demonstrations will show how AI can be a time-saving assistant while still respecting cultural context, community priorities, and data sovereignty. Attendees will leave with strategies, prompts, and safeguards to use AI responsibly and effectively in their day-to-day work.

Key Learning Outcomes

By the end of the session, participants will be able to:

  • Identify AI tools that can assist with IBA drafting, proposal development, and reporting.
  • Apply AI prompts to quickly generate, edit, and structure professional documents.
  • Use AI to summarize complex agreements or technical reports for different audiences.
  • Recognize best practices for protecting confidential and culturally sensitive information when using AI.
  • Integrate AI outputs with their own expertise to ensure accuracy, cultural relevance, and community priorities.

All participants will get demos, a copy of the slides and links to additional resources.
